“The grief and shock one feels days following losing a love one unexpectedly is intense. I walked into the office of Desert Lawn Memorial Park and was greeted by Brenda. As she walked us through the process I kept thinking, "This woman has been placed here by God." The peace and love felt lightened the heartache from an emotionally heavy situation. I found out later, she indeed was placed there by God. This is not just a job for Brenda, it's a call to love people through arguably one of the worst moments in their lives. The place is beautiful and we are grateful to have our love ones nearby. In addition, they are the cheapest in the valley$”

“Colerain Township Historical Foster Cemetery is located east of Miamitown on the north side of 7574 Harrison Avenue. The Cemetery can be found in a grove of mature trees between Hunters Ridge Lane and East Miami River Road as of 2018. There is a business just to the west of the Cemetery where you can drive into their parking lot and park along side of the Cemetery. This provides easy access to the Historical Foster Family Cemetery. There are over 30 records of people buried in Foster Cemetery. Based on the headstones location, there are most likely additional burials here without stones. With the identified 17 photographed headstones that are legible, we can see that the earliest burial was in 1832. Most of the identifiable headstones were set in the 1850s. Absalom Foster (1766-1849) and his wife Agness Foster (1789-1837) are buried here and their headstones are easily found. Asa Foster (1758-1827) is also buried at the Foster Cemetery. Asa Foster is recognized as a Revolutionary War Soldier by the Hamilton County Genealogical Society. There are two other Foster’s in the records found at this Cemetery, Sarah E. Foster (1835-1836) daughter of Samuel R. Foster and Solomon Foster (-1828). Unfortunately, no other relationship information for the Foster’s, are available as of July 2018. There are more than 14 family names buried in the Foster Cemetery as well as multiple unknown burials.”

“Everyone was so supportive and helpful during a difficult time for our family. From the first phone conversation and throughout the process, I was offered support, was well informed and felt no pressure at any step in the process. It is evident the entire team cares about their clients, providing information and a variety of resources needed along the way. Green Valley Mortuary & Cemetary was there for our family and I can’t thank them enough.”

“There are so many personal memorials at this cemetery. People leave flowers, but also personal mementos. Many of the inscriptions describe a love between people, which truly is a reminder of what is important. We may spend our lives in many pursuits, but in the end, what matters is our relationships The cemetery is on a hill and has many beautiful shade trees.”

“Illinois is not usually thought of by most as mining country, but some of the most important events in the history of miners in the U.S. took place in Illinois. From the Battle of Virden, to the Centralia Mine disaster, the struggles and tragedies of Illinois miners are many. Some of that is captured in this solemn location, which features a moment at the grave of American labor activist, "Mother Jones".”
