“The museum is small, but interesting. The governor’s mansion was interesting as well. There was no docent available in the mansion for questions on the day we went and only one staff member that I saw in the museum. This was a stop-over on the way to the Pawnee Bill Ranch and it was a nice little detour. It’s a neat stop if you are interested in Oklahoma history.”

“I LOVED this museum! Tom Mix memorabilia throughout, as well as a short movie about him in the old west. Full of saddles, guns, hats, boots, whips, pictures, even a full size statue of Tom with Tony, his horse, near the entrance! There is also a picture of the Cord automobile he died in. It was highly enjoyable, and I will be going back!”

“Even though the boat itself is closed, the rest of the memorial is still open Friday to Sunday! There's more to see than just the Batfish, including over a dozen different artifacts ranging from torpedoes, to naval mines, to 5-inch naval guns, and more! The volunteer there was extremely friendly and was happy to answer any questions I had. If you're visiting I recommend donating extra, as entry is only $3/person at the moment due to the submarine's closure, and they're trying to raise funds in preparation to move her to a permanent, more submarine friendly, location down the Arkansas River.”

“The history in this museum was rich, detailed, interesting, and eye catching. It kept the attention of my 10-year-old. It is perched atop a massive hill. We could really imagine Native Americans and settlers traveling through the area, seeing the huge stone building overlooking the entire area below. We loved the fascinating artifacts, and the well-laid-out displays. We left feeling like we knew the Native cultures better than before. Some of the history was saddening, but it's important to be educated on the sad history, too, so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past. The people working there were also nice. One of the men gave us extra info, and helped me get started tracking down my husband's Native American family history. The art gallery and book collection upstairs are a must-see! Also, be sure to ask the employees to tell you about the artifacts outside, like the stone pillar that is carved with mysterious drawings.”
Address: Shamrock, OK 74068, USA
“The history of Shamrock is fascinating and very well presented. From Senior photographs of the school to the Main Street businesses at the peak of the oil boom. The rock frames of the car dealership and school gym still stands. Also still in tact is the old bank vault minus the hole in the back where one of the Oklahoma outlaws broke through and got away with the loot. You will also see a fantastic display of prehistoric fossils and Indian artifacts that you won't find anywhere else. Open on Saturdays from 10 A.M. 'till 4 P.M. and IT'S FREE!”

“An educational Museum. It’s small but they do care about the area and it’s history. I wish more people visited so they make money to invest in further archeological digs. I’d like for them to use LIDAR and some other forensic work to be able to recreate more educational displays outdoors. Some metal battle soldiers and camp displays would be appreciated. Better signage and directional trail markers are needed. I learned some history I didn’t know.”

Other than that, there is a robust offering of historical and present cultural history. Average stay is probably about 1-2 hours. If you are one to read everything, expect 2-3.”

“Wish we could have seen the cows!! And they won't let you take pictures inside the buildings. We got to see the factory lines. How the milk, bread products, ice cream, waffle cones, pasteries are made/packaged. Everyone in our tour group got an ice cream sandwich and a cookie at the end. Overall a fun, free family activity.”
