“Very pretty nature. A swamp back in woods like in the movies. lots of off trails. Could easily get lost. Always keep to the right. Always!!! We went on a rainy day so it was muddy. lots of animal sounds but sadly we didn't see any. I would Walk it again. I think it be great as a jogging trail or youth group outing.”

“A wonderful swampy Indiana forest In its natural state. Don’t expect a sanitized nature trail, It will be mucky in spots and on a sultry summer afternoon in the middle of July you will meet plenty of friendly bugs. If you go on the immediate west loop trail around the swamp, bring your sense of balance. There are areas traversed via single file railroad ties and logs(see pics) Overall, I enjoyed it, A very nice nature preserve.”

“This seems like a lovely RV park and recreational area! I specify RV park because, if you are tent campers, I would not recommend staying here. The tent camping spots are about 100ft from the freeway and we were not informed of this while checking in. Would love to spend more time here another time, but it just wasn’t the place we were looking for to rest for the night. Edit: If there are other sites available, we were not informed of that. It would be helpful if staff gave more information about the campground at check in.”

“The best hiking trail near Orland. Easy access to the parking lot. Nice wide trail for most of the route. A shady clearing near the river is perfect for picnics (bring a blanket to spread out). Most of the route is in cool shade. About halfway along is a juncture to a loop that goes along the river for a hundred yards or so. The whole route took us about 35 minutes.”

“A great place to visit to get away! We came for a weekday getaway in a cabin, and it was fabulous. Cabin 18 was well secluded with only one cabin nearby (about 75 yards away). It was a 2 minute walk to a nice little playground, perfect for our 4.5 year old! Beautiful hikes, a neat little school house to visit (lots of programs if you go on the weekend!). Our stay was quite due to the time of year and being the weekday. We didn't try any water features (other than beautiful views during the hikes! But they have a beach, canoeing and kayaking, and great set up foe fishing, either by boat (easy access boat ramps) or piers. Lots of little places to host a family gathering. Would highly recommend!”

“Love this place..punkin vine trail runs from elkhart all the way to Middlebury and has great nature and side trails along the way. Peaceful place. And Abshire hill is great for sledding in the winter. Been going there since I was a kid and now my kids do to.”

“Beautiful hike, love this place, only one hill that goes straight up but it's small, the rest are moderate inclines or flat land with wood walk ways and beautiful scenery. We did all the trails except the small wet land loop and it was only 1.6 miles. Would be an easy trail for kids as well.”

“Great park. My toddler loves the playground. It is always clean and beautiful here. They have bathrooms. There's plenty of spots to sit with benches. Lots of grass with shady trees. My favorite cafe, Sip, is also down the street within walking distance.”

“Last year was our first year camping there. Wife and kids love it. The people are nice. It's a place we don't mind letting our kids play freely during the day. Can't wait for this season of camping to start back up.”

“Dan, and his crew of employees at KOA Hogback, were possibly the friendliest, and most helpful campground crew that I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. From the moment we showed up we were greeted with smiles, and were offered helpful hands with the vehicle issues that we were having. The team even assisted getting our camper put onto our site, while our vehicle was out of commission. The KOA company must have good hearts, as multiple times during our stay, there were (no pressure) fundraisers, for terminally ill children. These included 50/50 raffles, and pancake breakfasts. It definitely warms the heart. During the entire duration of our stay, the family was never lacking things to do. From swimming, to arts and crafts, and even live music, the campground is definitely a step above the rest. It was a pleasure camping at the KOA Hogback, and I already have my next trip there scheduled.”

“Despite what others say, I absolutely love this campground! As a single woman, I was so tired of hopping from campground to campground, setting up and tearing down every other weekend. I wanted a nice place where I could leave my camper year round. It’s so great to come out here and have everything ready when I arrive! (I actually had a deck attached to my camper!) The new owner has made a load of upgrades and is in the process of many more! There is now a bath house for tent campers and they are working on a laundry facility for everyone. There are amazing people who stay year round and I’ve made many friends. Your camping spot, no matter where you go, is what you make of it and I love mine!”

“Need a pool but it like all the others, friendly trying to get rid of the riff Raff drugs but that's in all of them keep your kids close to you and watch him you won't have any problems. People are friendly for the most part. Very helpful when you need help. The restaurant needs some work. Otherwise it's worth being there.”

“Great location for adults. There is no playground equipment, so not very many children are running around. Easy access to Pigeon River for kayak and canoe trips. Great place to sit around a fire and visit with friends. Will be back again.”

“Sweet park and disc golf course! They have a lot of nice shade trees on a good part of the course. The park has 2 sets of swings and multiple play areas as well as slides and things to climb on. If you have little toddlers keep a close eye though, cause there's some tall parts they could fall from. 😄 They have a splash pad, drinking fountain, covered picnic area, and bathrooms (I believe they're the flushable kind). It's usually pretty busy so hold on to your valuables and keep an eye on your kids.”

“Camelot Ridge Resort provides a great hunting trip for hunters and their families. They have comfortable well-appointed lodging, fantastic food, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. The deer in the preserve are spectacular and there are many ways to keep a family entertained and out in nature together. I became aware of Doug McCombs Camelot Ridge Resort while watching a Ted Nugent hunting video on TV. Ted’s producer and sales manager for Camelot Ridge is none other than Dave Watson. I looked up the website and called Dave for more information. Following this Dave and I set up a vacation package for me, my wife Pauline and our daughter, Liz, her husband Matt and their twin 8 year old sons with Liz and I hunting. Dave was very accommodating. The Non-hunting members of the party had wonderful accommodations in the lodge including two separate lounge areas, an audio/visual room, game rooms, etc., all adorned with Doug’s many trophies and various collections of boat motors, hunting bows, duck stamps, etc. Doug even took the twins fishing one afternoon. All of the staff did a superb and friendly job taking care of us and are committed to providing everything the guests wanted. The hunt turned out to be rather difficult, as for some reason the deer were just not moving. Maybe because it had turned very cold? I’ve been on several “unsuccessful” hunts in the past and they are not very “restful”. In this case since Doug’s policy is no kill/no pay I found myself very relaxed as we went into the last day of hunting. After an unsuccessful hunt on the morning of the third and final day Doug decided to abandon the heated blinds and do spot and stalk. This proved successful and both my daughter and I got beautiful bucks that afternoon. The size and quality of the deer hunting is beyond imagination with excellent and very helpful guides, blinds, food plots, etc. We highly recommend Camelot Ridge as an ideal family vacation spot which caters to a wide range of interests, albeit somewhat unique. A hunt like this is not inexpensive but when you consider you can drive to it from many locations in the East, saving significant airline cost and hassle. Plus in-field and butchering costs were included. Also, the ability to take the raw trophy and meat home avoided significant shipping cost.”

“Wonderful Park to go to nice place to find some uniqueness nostalgia in the sense of Old McDonald's play equipment. However needs to work on the drainage in the actual kids play area because the slightest amount of rain and it turns into a swamp. The lake however is absolutely stunning the park over all is really wonderful”

“The trail is less than a mile in a loop but it gives you a nice little work out and allows you to see some pretty interesting things. We also came across a small 4H cache on the shape of a bird house along the trail🍀”
