“we stopped here after a camping trip on the river, we were a big group and they accommodated us so quickly! the food was amazing, I got the chopped brisket baked potato & a peach cobbler with butter pecan ice cream! Lindsay at the counter was super sweet & we even had someone (I think it was the grill master?) come check up on us and joked around with us! seriously the best experience ever. i don't go to Bastrop often but now this might just be my new fave BBQ spot ✨️🫶🏼”

“My other favorite Mexican joint is also inside a gas station so I may be biased 😅. Honestly stumbled across this place on a road trip and imagined average tex-mex. NO! THIS IS BY NO MEANS AVERAGE. This place has all the best qualities of a hole in the wall authentic restaurant shoved into a gas station with a simple menu done PERFECT. I only had the tacos, beans, rice and churro. Based on how good these were though, I would be SHOCKED if anything they offer was subpar. They have some of the best meat I've ever had in a taco. Fresh off the grill , with a good amount of char on every piece. Onion, herbs , and lime on the side in a simple corn tortilla and the fresh fried churro😭🥴!! They do the simple stuff and just hit it out of the park. This is universal comfort food!”

“V's Steakhouse was quite the experience! I have never been to a restaurant that put so much thought and creativity into its presentation. From the email we received and the way we were greeted upon entry, to the costumes worn and the presentation of the food and drinks, it was all so fabulous. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning another date next weekend! The rack of lamb is the absolute best I have ever had! The chocolate cake paired well with the espresso martini. I'm looking forward to our next adventure there. We enjoyed the walk on the dock after dinner. It was just as great.”

“My first time at Toppers. I asked the guy if all the pizzas were flat crust he said, they had hand tossed. I got the hand tossed. It was tasty as I was leaving I noticed they had a Tall boy which is thickest crust. I wished the guy would have explained their different crust since it was my first time. “Great great pizza, the pizza was so fluffy really great. I know we have a dominos in our hometown but for some reason when you visit someplace else they do it much better. The pizza was great. The only thing was when I went to pick up it took them a while to Check me out. I guess they are used to pick up and go they have the pass n go box there. But I still had to pay for my pizza. The people there where talking and sitting so I tried to call them and get their attention but took them a while to get to me. But it's fine kids are kids but yes everything else was great.”

“We stopped in Hebronville, on the way to a hunting lease down past El Sauz. We grew up with a Compadre from Kingsville that taught us how to make fajitas. His were amazing. These fajitas are a different style, in the sense that it is perfectly cooked faita meat, that is so simply seasoned and tender, I bet that it didn't even need to be marinated? Eating this meat, without Pico de Gallo, Guacamole and not even tortillas, was the perfect way to truly experience borderland BBQ! Wherever you are coming from, this is worth the drive, to eat like the locals eat!”
