Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Headquarters

Address: 42218 NE Yale Bridge Rd, Amboy, WA 98601, USA

Park Real estate agency

“I'm just getting around to writing something now, but I climbed Mt. St. Helens with a guided group on July 18, 2021. If you are able to do a guided climb, do it. Here are the reasons: 1. There aren't any private permits left from May through October. 2. You've never climbed MSH before and would rather go with someone who has experience and expertise. 3. Maybe you are a seasoned mountain hiker who is pretty fit, but you are teetering on whether or not you could handle summiting this volcano. I'm so glad I went with a guide, mainly because the boulder field is no longer "hiking." It's a climb. I don't know if it's considered to be technical at all, because the overall description of MSH as a hike is "non-technical." But you are no longer just "walking" (or even just trudging up steep terrain with poles) when you hit the boulder field. You are putting away your poles and using your hands to hoist yourself from landing to landing. And it's about a two mile bouldering session. I wouldn't necessarily call it Class 3, but I found it to be more "climbing like" than Aasgard Pass in The Enchantments. I think had I been by myself or with someone who had never done this one before, I might have sadly turned around. But being with experts to help us along and to guide the way, it gave me a lot more confidence. I was physically prepared, but not mentally. Anyway, the guides were very encouraging. They were careful to make sure that no one was left behind, gave us plenty of breaks for rest and water. We were in great hands. Highly recommended!”

Nelson Nature Park

Address: 2228 118th Ave E, Edgewood, WA 98372, USA

“Nice place to go for an after dinner evening stroll in the evening. The trail is mostly paved. The stroll isn't too long to walk the whole trail. You can even take the shortcuts to make it shorter if you prefer. I loved coming here when i lived in Edgewood. Its very calm and relaxing. Great place for a private picnic and some of nature's natural habitat. Parking can be tough because there's only a few spaces.”

Powell Barnett Park

Tables for a BBQ or party in the park. Have a seat on a bench and just enjoy the environment. There is street parking or hop on the #8 bus and don't forget you can always take a stroll in your neighborhood and relax in the grass once you get there.”

32nd Avenue West Boat Launch

Address: 32nd Ave W, Seattle, WA 98199, USA

Park

“This is a nice small rocky beach best for kayaks, canoes, SUP or just sitting. Small lot but plenty of parking available along street. Tide and wind speed and direction can make launching easy or difficult. This public beach is near Elliot Bay marina on South end of Magnolia with great views of W Seattle, Seattle Waterfront and Mt Rainier.”

Delano Bay Christian Camp

Address: 810 Stamford Rd SW, Lakebay, WA 98349, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“This is a good summer camp if you are of a traditional Church of Christ background. The summer camps are focused more on growing spiritually than on playing games. They tend to do a good job challenging campers and helping them grow in their faith. If you are from a different church background then things may not make sense. Compared to other Christian camps, it is somewhat limited in physical space. It is predominately comprised of one open field which most activities take place in. The boys cabins are more dorm like and are not handicap accessible. The girls cabins are also dorm like and are better like but still require someone in a wheelchair to go up a fairly steep hill. The waterfront cabins are cute. They are fairly original and haven’t been updated. You can rent them throughout the off season for an affordable rate.”

Maplewood Park

Address: Lyons Ave NE, Renton, WA 98059, USA

Park Meal takeaway Restaurant

“At 2 pm on July 21st (today) while walking a dog on the trail North of the playground area in the woods I saw a young black bear coming from the east on the same trail. We both saw each other about the same time. It was about 200 feet from me. As I was trying to get my camera out, it turned and ran back along the trail to the east. Just a warning to have your dogs on a leash and be aware of your surroundings.”

Palisades Park

“Had some time to kill before catching a flight so decided to check out the refuge. Went for a nice long walk and saw a lot of different wildlife. They were working on a new building and parking lot while I was there that looks like it will be very nice once finished. If you enjoy nature and walks I recommend this place.”

Ballinger Park

Address: 23000 Lakeview Dr, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043, USA

Park

“I loved the layout of this park! It seems like a quiet and tranquil place to have a picnic or let the kids explore and play. The wildlife in the area seemed pretty active during my visit like ducks, squirrels and other birds. There was a sign on one end of the park that said the park was closed and another entrance that welcomed guests. There is a beach park nearby that I didn't find yet. But it looks pretty nice on google maps”

Lions Park

Address: 251 Lebo Blvd, Bremerton, WA 98310, USA

Park

“They are one of my favorite public parks, they have covered picnic areas for events, waterfront access, boat launch, bathrooms cleaned daily, a play area for children ranging in age so you bring little ones and active rowdy early teens, outlet plugs, ballfield, sidewalks that loop around almost entire park for those that like to walk, jog, or push little one in stroller, dog friendly(no off leash, leash law enforced but not strictly if dogs is well minded, "trained" and "responds well and does as instructed, and minds to himself unless invited, you can walk off leash and not worry.. people go fishing, have events, parties, kick back of the big lush green grass field, it's comfortable, easy going, and lots to do.. and they have been super tolerant and understanding my vehicle with problems and not easily mobile they have let me stay a night or 2 otherwise park closes at dusk.. I think I covered most of everything.. that comes to mind..”

Bridle Trails State Park

Address: 5300 116th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033, USA

Park

“I love that most of the paths are pretty flat and wide. They seem to be very well maintained. The trail markers were really good and you could expand your walk or shrink it based on what you feel like at the time. The coyote trail was having some construction when I visited October 2021, but it was a very localized area so you could easily still take the trail and enjoy the walk. I think there are more than 28 miles of trails. You might find yourself sharing the path with a horse once in a while but that's okay other than you might have to look out for their byproduct in your walks.”

Steel Lake Park

Address: 2410 S 312th St, Federal Way, WA 98003, USA

Park

“Best place for a day on the lake, there's a massive play structure for kids (with benches for the adults). Alot of picnic benches with little fireplaces at some, so a great place to barbecue, a little swim area for little children, and a dock to jump off of. There is also a ping pong table but you will need to bring a paddle and ball. Parking is abundant, but it is a pretty popular place.”

Cavalero Hill Dog Park

Address: 7708 20th St SE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258, USA

Park

“We love this little community dog park! My pup and I like to come here in the mornings before there are too many dogs around. It's a good size and well set up so that you can almost always spot your dog (assuming he's not a corgi in the tall grass like mine is). The main off-leash area has multiple benches spread around to sit on, as well as some agility obstacles built in. Be sure to bring your own water and water bowl for your doggo here as there is no running water nearby.”

Grand Forest West

Address: 9752 Miller Rd NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, USA

Park

“Took my family including twin 2.5 year Olds and an almost 5 year old. Lots of fun fairly easy hike, took us about 1.5 hours. FYI the bathroom is behind Pru's house! We will certainly be back, I love how well maintained and marked the trails are as well!”

Tiger Mountain State Forest

Address: Issaquah, WA 98027, USA

“Tiger mountain is one of my favorite mountain biking spots near Seattle. Be prepared for a somewhat strenuous climb to the summit, but the trails back down are worth it. These fun, well made trails have been built thanks to Evergreen Mtb Alliance.”

Chestnut Ridge Park

Address: 9901 S 203rd St, Kent, WA 98031, USA

“Nice play structure with a huge grassy hill for littles to run and chase out their wiggles.”
