“I'll be honest, usually go to Whiskey Joe's or Hooters across the river but decided to go somewhere I haven't been. First impression walking up, typical Florida dive, not necessarily a bad thing. Interior appearance shows a good attempt, but if they brought in a designer, the setup they have could be amazing. On the edge of amazing, honestly. They had live music, and when I say live, I mean they had a man in front of a keyboard singing to canned music. Basic Yacht rock. He couldn't carry a tune if you put it in a bucket, just godawful, yet it was awesome. We sat in the outdoor covered bar area looking at the river, fantastic cross breezes, and watching boaters. Very relaxing. The wait staff was courteous. I had the banana bucket rum punch drink. It's really good. For food, we ordered appetizers first, the fried pickles and Gator tail nuggets. The pickles were thinning sliced, lightly breaded, and fried to a perfect crispness. The Gator tail came in a basket with fries and coleslaw. I had to call the waitress over to ask who made it, if it was done here, or if they ordered it in. I'll tell you that Gator is one of my favorite indulgences. I've had it all over Florida and in New Orleans. This was the absolute BEST I have ever had. The tenderness was nearly indescribable. Even the best prepared Gator has a little chew to it. This was melt in your mouth perfection. The seasoning was on point, not too heavily breaded and fried perfectly. I could have eaten my weight in it. Next up, the boom boom shrimp. Served on a bed of mixed greens, these little nuggets mirror their cousins bang bang shrimp from bone fish only better. Not overly spicy but a delicious sweet tangy flavor. Wrapped it up with the blackened grouper sandwich and coleslaw. It was the second serving of coleslaw, which was ok. Not great, not bad. The grouper, however, was simply amazing. Light, flaky, and not overly seasoned. Best Grouper I've had in a while. Next time, I'll just order the dinner plate instead of the sandwich because grouper that good doesn't need the bread. The downside is that the kitchen and service are a little slow, but once the food started coming, it was definitely worth the wait. They're definitely going to need more staff once people figure out that not only is the food fantastic, the prices are good too! I'll be back. A lot.”

When I went to pick up my order, the place was clean, and I got great customer service. The cashier asked me to make sure that I got what I ordered; if not, they would make it right. This is going to be my go-to place from now on. Check this place out; you won't be disappointed, that's for sure. 5 star all the way.”

“Royally Satisfied at Royal Kebabs & Gyros! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Royal Kebabs & Gyros, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel right at home. Rosa, the owner, has truly created something special here. The Lamb & Beef Gyros were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, and the baklava and ice-cream for dessert were simply divine. To top it off, the Turkish tea was a delightful addition to the meal, adding to the authentic experience. “Old school neighborhood pizza joint. Excellent pizza. The dough and the sauce are both fantastic. The sauce has a great flavor and tastes very fresh. The crust on the pizza has that perfect crunch but is also soft in the inside. The last pizza I ordered I asked to be cooked a little longer than normal and it was perfect. I definitely could go for some fresh mushrooms (my only gripe) but I'll live if they keep making a delicious pie!!”

We got the chicken fried streak sandwich & a chicken strip dinner. Both were really good! Cooked well, not tough either to chew into like you might expect a chicken fried steak sandwich to be. The sides of fries and tater tots were also fresh and crunchy. The guy who brought it out was wearing gloves & was very nice, which is hard to come by these days with service. It wasn’t terribly priced we spent around $24 without tip. It’s just nice to see another drive-in besides your corporate chains that offer up something different & tasty. As long as the service & food stays like this or better we will be repeat customers.”

“Went for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn’t busy at all. Our waitress Brianna G was great. We got our food fast, the crab linguine Alfredo was really good and so were the shrimp and French fries. “Cool place to stay for a couple of days if you don't lose all of your money in the casino downstairs. The room was clean and had heating and air conditioning with a nice shower, all for a fair price. I did go in the off-season for the horse racing and would like to experience it more when it gets more popular later in the year. Casino is only virtual tables and slots with no real dealers, but my wife and I still had fun making money on Roulette, then losing all the earnings. And don't forget the pool with a hot tub.”

“This was our third stop in Mt Airy to compare cheeseburgers with chili, mustard and slaw. We were getting full from the other burgers we sampled, so we split one at this location. Speedy Chef was the only restaurant that used a char-grill vs a flat top griddle, so the burger had an outdoor cooked flavor and crispy edges. We liked that. We also noticed the cheese was more melty on this burger than the other two locations we tried. The chili and the burger had a good flavor, but the slaw needed to be chopped a bit finer for my tastes. We also tried the hot fudge cake while there…and it was delicious. There are plenty of tables and chairs and since it wasn’t very busy, it wasn’t noisy inside. There is plenty of parking. Overall, a solid place for a cheeseburger and worth a try. We decided this Speedy Chef had the second-best cheeseburger in Mt Airy.”
