Kiwanis Island Park

Address: 951 Kiwanis Island Park Rd, Merritt Island, FL 32952, USA

Park

“A nice park with limited parking on Merritt Island, Florida This park is easy to find as it is nestled in the heart of Merritt Island, Florida. Kiwanis Park stands as a hidden gem, offering a serene and picturesque setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. It serves many different outdoor enthusiasts. It has a boat ramp, ball fields, tennis courts, and a large pavilion. Nature lovers will appreciate the park's close proximity to the Indian River, which offers breathtaking views and opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching. The calming waters and the gentle breeze create a perfect environment to unwind and connect with nature. This park also provides essential facilities such as clean restrooms, and picnic areas with barbecue grills making it convenient for visitors to spend a full day enjoying outdoor activities with family and friends. One of the major drawbacks that I noticed was limited parking. If the ball fields and pavilion are both in use you may have trouble finding a spot or you may have to line the roadway. In conclusion, Kiwanis Park in Merritt Island, Florida, offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With its natural beauty, diverse recreational opportunities, and family-friendly facilities, the park is a haven for relaxation, play, and connection with nature. Whether you seek a peaceful stroll, a friendly sports match, or a tranquil picnic by the river, Kiwanis Park is a good choice in the area.”

Myakka Tower

“As a wildlife photographer, I am always on the lookout for amazing destinations that offer abundant opportunities for capturing breathtaking shots of nature. My recent visit to Myakka River Park in Florida exceeded all my expectations, and I can confidently say that this park is a wildlife photographer's paradise. One of the first things that struck me about Myakka River Park was the sheer abundance of wildlife. From alligators and turtles to a wide variety of bird species, including herons, ospreys, and sandhill cranes, the park's ecosystem is teeming with biodiversity. The park's pristine landscapes, including the Myakka River itself, provide a natural habitat for these animals, making it a perfect place for wildlife observation and photography. The park's well-maintained trails and boardwalks offer excellent vantage points for capturing stunning shots of wildlife in their natural habitats. The Canopy Walkway, a unique feature of the park, takes you high up into the trees, providing a bird's eye view of the surrounding landscapes and an opportunity to capture unique perspectives of the wildlife below. In addition to the wildlife, the park's landscapes are also breathtaking, with vast prairies, marshes, and hammocks offering a picturesque backdrop for photography. The park's scenic beauty changes throughout the day, providing endless opportunities for capturing different lighting conditions and moods. The park's facilities are also noteworthy, with clean restrooms, picnic areas, and a visitor center that provides helpful information about the park's features and wildlife viewing opportunities. The park staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and their passion for wildlife conservation was evident. As a wildlife photographer, Myakka River Park was a dream come true. The park's amazing wildlife, stunning landscapes, and well-maintained facilities made it a perfect destination for capturing mesmerizing shots of nature. Whether you're a professional photographer or just a nature enthusiast with a passion for wildlife and photography, Myakka River Park is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend visiting this park and experiencing its wonders for yourself.”

“Easy to get to and an absolutely beautiful very well maintained RV park. The site we were in was very roomy. The only issue we had was that we checked in on Sunday not knowing the office was closed, and there was no information as to where to go or how to get set up. With that being said, we would definitely stay here again.”

“My fiance and I booked a private charter for a weekend. The guys at Morning Star gave us a Catalina 22’ (vessel name Key Largo Cottage). We had the pleasure of witnessing manatees swim beside our sailboat rental. It was truly a joy to sail it over the course of 2 days. With our ASA certifications, the bay was a delight to navigate. Many sailboats are anchored, and the waters were filled with people who love the ocean. The team gave us all the equipment and info we needed. Waking up each morning and seeing it docked at our property pier helped make our wedding weekend a dream come blue. Next time we’re in the Florida Keys, we will most certainly support Morning Star again.”

City Center Front Green

Address: 4970 City Hall Blvd, North Port, FL 34286, USA

Park

“I was a vendor at the Community Yard Sale held on 9/16/23. The event was well organized, and there were quite a few helpful Parks & Rec representatives to assist people in finding their spots and getting set up. As a previous vendor, I feel that this event was better organized. My only critiques are that a) one of the vendors who was on the standby list and was eagerly awaiting a call from P&R (even if it was at 8am) would have loved to occupy the empty space right across from me, and b) one hour is barely sufficient time for booth setup and display arrangements. It left me feeling pressured and stressed until I finally got my wares displayed. I think 1½ hours is a better time frame to allow people to set up their tables and display their products.”

Withlacoochee State Forest

John Nolen Park

Address: 425 Palmetto Ct, Venice, FL 34285, USA

Park

“Relatively small park with a 1/4 mile walking path. Along the path are small placards that show the historical development of Venice. The park was nicer, with more shade trees, before Hurricane Ian decimated many of the shade trees. Quiet spot in the "apartment district" of Venice. There is also a nice playground for the little ones. No rest rooms.”

Laurel Park

Address: 509 Collins Rd, Nokomis, FL 34275, USA

Shanty Pond Campground

Address: FR 33, Fort McCoy, FL 32134, USA

“We camped here because Sat Springs was crowded and very open. This is more like back country camping. There is a pit restroom that's not in good condition and rather broken hand pump water. However, we filled our buckets in the nearby gas station and camped fine. There were more than 20 sites but only 2 or 3 were taken. It was truly peaceful and secluded. I'm planning to go there again with larger group.”

“A nice place to walk and enjoy the day. However, as of the past 3 weeks the place has not been maintained in terms of landscaping. The grass grows tall and can seem like the county doesn't care to maintain. It was maintained today, but there is more work to be done”
