Taps & our National Anthem already pulls hard at my heart strings, however standing u der the tent with all the Gold Star families they take on a whole new meaning. “What a magnificent tribute to our heroes. The Monuments are beautiful, there are waterfalls in the center and then obelisks all around. We went on Veterans Day weekend and all the flags are at half staff. It was a moving and wonderful Memorial honoring our veterans. Highly recommended visiting. There are plaques and dedications to every war and each of the battles faught. Going on the hundredth anniversary of Armistice Day was extremely emotional. They have done a wonderful job at Carolina field of Honor”

“Beautiful small park, campground and bathroom/showers are well maintained. I’ve camped here 2 times, first just did trails, but this time I rented one of their canoes and was amazing. First time was in late august and 2nd time was middle of June, both days were in 90s, honestly I didn’t see much wildlife maybe because it was too hot but still worth it. I did see few butterflies and few turtles.”

“Wow!!! This place is fabulous! This park used to be a run down playground. I used to dread taking my son there but it was the closest place. They totally redid it and added a splash pad along with big open areas. There are also basketball hoops. My son loves this park and we have so much fun when we go! Do not hesitate to try this SPLASH PARK out if you have kids. They will have a BLAST!!”

“Lovely park in a rural area. We visited on a warm September Sunday. After waiting on line for roughly 10 minutes the park ranger waved us in. I enjoyed hiking through the deeper timber. Land was largely level, making for an easy hike. Parking was solid but the lot was almost full. Thumbs up for a fun experience.”

“Nice park there's a trail that leads to the dam and up over to the west side of the park. I walked the disc golf course nice short left hand friendly course. Well marked easy to follow bench and tee signs at every hole. Will be back.”

“After lots of construction and renovation, the Bass Lake Trail/Greenway has become a fantastic and enjoyable walking/biking trail. It extends from the end of Womble Park around towards Sugg Farm and finishing around the Bass Lake. I enjoy using the greenway to go for runs and use as a shortcut to get from one park to the next.”

“Oh no... they close at 5 and I arrived @ 5:30 🙄. Since I still have a couple hours to drive to get to my destination, I drove around for a little bit and located Stop 1 Confederate High Tide. The Battlefield is very clean and spacious. It has informative historic markers and signs. If you have time, I highly recommend doing the entire driving tour.”

“This park has some soccer fields but the trail that passes through it is a great place to walk. It is pretty during the summer and there are mile markers to help you keep up with the amount of exercise that you are getting. We have seen many casual bicyclists along the path too. You can enter the trail at various spots along the route and a good spot to park at is the Part bus depot to hit the trail. You walk following the river and a light spinning rod is fun to take out but it would be better to have waders. We have also seen kayakers. It is also fun to watch some of the soccer matches!”

“After reading some of the reviews we were hesitant on going to the point we called and questioned what was going on up there. We got the answers we wanted. We arrived and was greeted like old friends. We couldn't ask for a better weekend. The pool was awesome! Our grandson had the best time. The food at the snack bar was very reasonable priced and tasty. Our campsite was clean and level. The whole campground was very well kept and in order. I very much enjoyed my stay and planning to go back soon.”

“This is one of my favorite parks in NC. It has a great playground, a fantastic walking trail, clean restroom facilities, and great colors from the trees this time a year. The splash pad is amazing, too. It's right down the street from the Mason Jar Tavern and great coffee shops and bakeries. Definitely check it out. You won't regret it.”

“Beautiful park, easy hike. I went with a group and we passed quite a few others out walking their dogs or just enjoying the (really) brisk morning. We were near peak on leaf color and it was really pretty. Interesting things to see include the unusually heavy rocks that form a kind of rock garden along the trail, a fenced off pit that they think might represent a very old mining attempt, and the headwaters of the Haw River (which are a bit swampy but still pretty.”

They have three different age playgrounds there for babies, little kids, and bigger kids. Super cool playground! They also have tennis courts, soccer field, and baseball fields.”

“It's a nice and easy walking trail. Pretty flat throughout. Has a good amount of benches and poop bag/trash cans along the way. It's very clean and well maintained. If you're going to go while there is snow on the ground, I recommend using a walking stick since some areas get icy and slippery.”
