“The owners are putting so much work into this place and it really shows! Bathrooms and facilities are updated and comfortable to use, and there’s plenty of space at each site. On top of that, they are kind and welcoming, and the area is perfect. Lots of trails for horses, central to a lot of the Hocking Hills hikes, and between two cute little towns with plenty of mom and pop restaurants to eat at. This place is a gem and I’m so glad we stayed!”

Rising Park

“This is such a great place for families. There’s plenty to do with tennis courts fishing, a play ground and walking paths. The path to the nice lookout is short, but is a little steep in places. It unfortunately would not likely accommodate wheel chairs. The views are fantastic, I’m sure the town is even more glorious when the Fall colors come in.”

Hidden Valley Park

Address: 4872 Klasen Rd, Madison, OH 44057, USA

Park

“This is by far my favorite park to go to for hunting mushrooms. After a good rain, a variety of shrooms pop their fruiting heads in abundance it's mesmerizing everytime I go. Another special finding at this park is my 12 year old daughter, boyfriend, and I, found that someone left gemstones hidden along the trails. I've been a collector since I was very young so it was a real treat for me. To help spread the love of geology we left plenty hidden for other trailblazers and hopefully future collectors to discover. This park has picnic tables, it's dog-friendly. No restrooms or playground. I highly recommend this awesome little park for any type of nature lover.”

“This park has grass fields with soccer goals. There is a cement walking path, bike path. There appears to be a small pool with a slide, but I am not sure if that is public. There are several benches around the walking path, as well as a Pavillion with about 10 or more picnic tables. There is also a small playground with equipment for children like a slide and see saw. There is one small men's restriom house and one small women's but it is not clear if these were open for use. A water fountain there was not working at the moment.”

Once you get farther in or it's the river is high you can't hear the cars for the water. It's a lovely long easy walk with benches placed around a few places. No shade or cover from wind in a lot of parts so dress appropriately.”

Italian Cultural Garden

Address: 990 East Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44108, USA

Park

“From East Boulevard, the garden has a broad paved walkway leading to a large piazza with a fountain and a balustrade overlooking the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The front of the piazza is a backdrop to the amphitheater accessed by a pair of spiral stairs. The front facing the Parkway and Parkgate Ave. has bas-relief heads of Giotto, Michelangelo and Petrarca on the left and Giuseppe Verdi, Leonardo da Vinci and Guglielmo Marconi on the right. Entering the garden, before the piazza, there is a statue of Dante Alighieri to the left. He is seated, with a book and holding a pen. On the base in the front is a quote from the Heaven section of the Divine Comedy. On Dante's right is a quote from Hell and on his left a quote from Purgatory. Sadly the small statues that must have decorated the small alcoves in the base have disappeared. This section of the garden also has a rock from Monte Grappa that memorializes the Ohio soldiers who fell on Italian soil during the First World War. To the right as you enter is a bust of the poet Virgil.”

If you want to even jog around the field and pop in some earbuds and focus on your workout, this is a great place to do so because it's quiet, it's a safe area, there is usually a light traffic passing through as well.”

“This was an amazing place to visit, glad they made this into a park instead of building on it or destroying it for the sake of archeology. These mounds should be saved as a sacred place. The view from the top is amazing! If you have trouble walking or breathing like I do, just take your time, I had to stop like 4 or 5 times to get there but it was worth it.”

Whipps Ledges

Address: Hinckley Lake Loop Trail, Hinckley, OH 44233, USA

“This is such a cool park to take a hike through. It was super windy today but it meant the trail was empty for the most part. I liked the elevation and how the trail went across the rim. The photos don’t do it justice. I could see this trail being too difficult I. The winter time with snow but great in spring and fall for the foliage or trees.”
