“Huge recreational park at Hyco Lake in Person and Caswell Counties. There are many things you can do here. There are boat ramps, beach area for swimming, camping, hiking, etc. The area is clean and the Park Staff are friendly and helpful. It does cost to park and visit the area, as well as using the boat ramps. Great place to bring the family!”

“Great spot to fish! I caught bass and crappie. It is a state park so I'm guessing to keep it as natural as possible it's allowed to be a little over grown, piers are small, does cost $7, very dark at night no lights out. Overall I had a blast fishing but was a little scary.”

“This campground is well maintained, clean, organized, relaxed, and friendly. During our brief stay, we availed ourselves of the pool, playground, mini golf course, showers, and launderette, while the dogs enjoyed the fenced-in dog area (there are three in total). The comfort station has multiple individual full bathrooms, giving a very homey feel to the facilities. Our family has traveled all around the country and this is a very nice place to stay. Thank you, Raleigh Oaks, for a wonderful stay!”

“The Deshavo Mill access is 20 minutes north of the Mayo River State Park access, and is nearly at the Virginia state line. The road to the parking lot is not paved and narrow; the parking lot is quite limited. There are no restrooms at this access point. The trail itself was an easy and beautiful 1.3 miles out and back. The waterfall can be viewed soon after beginning the hike. Although it may not seem worth it, definitely continue to follow the hike past the waterfall—it follows Fall creek, showcasing beautiful clear water, rocks, beautiful reflections and mini rapids. There are ample places to safely climb the rocks! The creek then flows into Mayo River. The trail follows alongside this, eventually leading to some rapids (pictured below, with the big rocks) which were absolutely stunning! The trail goes about .5 miles to the right before ending at the VA state line. It’s a little unclear, but there’s a tree with yellow lines on it and two of the trailhead markings, marking the end of the trail. You can go past this point but it goes into private property. I definitely recommend this easy hike! It was so peaceful and enchanting”

“This is one of the neatest walking tours I've been on. It's free too! Constructed with a lot of time and effort and money, this park and museum gives history lessons on the Revolutionary War ( how America separated from Britain ). It's a great walking trail and they've put together a phone app that gives details at each memorial site.”

“If you live in the triad area you definitely should come out to this beautiful lake . It also has a big playground for the kids and shelters for great birthday parties, and fishing. It’s beautiful park . They do have two or 3 piers you can walk and fish on and picnic tables to have a nice lunch . They dint allow electric scooters bc we tried and they said it wasn’t allowed so if you happen to take yours I suggest you leave it home . Over all one of my favorite places .”

“Super cool playground! There’s TWO of them!!! This park is in a residential area and has two full size playgrounds next to one another with a gazebo shelter in the middle, and large shade trees surrounding them. The bigger playground is super fun, has tons of different ways to climb up to the higher level, and different pathways to walk around on. There are SO many different things to climb on! No bathrooms here though, but really great playgrounds for your kids!”

“It's a very small park that located close to living houses. It has children playground, few benches and place for barbecue. Also a small volleyball area. This park had fountain with drinking water but it's not working right now. I was a bit disappointed I expected this park should be bigger. But anyway it's nice foe people who live close by”

“This park has tons of things to do. Name any field and you have it. 6 tennis courts, 3 baseball, 2 volleyball next to shelter. Couple of kids playing area and a decent walking trail. This park has many things than many other parks I have visited.”

“It was a nice open space with a kitchen & bathrooms. It's not a large space for 200 people less than 100 would probably be best for free movement esp if having table seating.”

“I lived on this area for over 20 years and never took a hike. I've fished, swam, and took a boat out on the lake but ever took a hike. At my age, I was determined to make it to the hanging rock. My son and I hiked the trail and while it was a little strenuous and challenging at times, I was not disappointed!!!!! The view at the end is spectacular and well worth the trip. I should have done this 30 years ago. What a beautiful place in my own backyard. This is a national treasure and place to be cherished. The park team has done an amazing job on this park and it shows. Can't wait to take on the Moore's Wall trail.”

“Our church participates in an adult softball league and this is where the field is that we play on. It's very well kept and everything is nice and clean there. The fields are very well maintained. There is multiple fields that have nice dugouts and there is nice bleachers for each side. The bathrooms aren't disgusting and they seem to be kept up pretty well. There is a nice concession stand that offers all kind of goodies. The only thing I can say about the place that's mildly frustrating is the parking. If you dont arrive early more than likely you will have a ways to walk but it is what it is. Not much space there for them to really expand the parking.”

“This was my first visit on Sunday. I love this hike!!! We were not allowed to drive up the mountain (as it was crowded) but they have a shuttle bus that takes you to the top and back down for 5.00 each. The views are amazing and there are plenty of hiking trails at the top. One of my favorite hikes! Amazing! (Side note: we expected the trees to be a bit closer to peak for the colors, so I imagine that next week it will be even more beautiful!)”

“this is a lovely park in the center of Louisville, designed for Community gatherings. there is a band shell, two playgrounds, and a walking path around it. I enjoy the free concerts, outdoor movie nights, and fireworks displays on the 4th of July that are held here.”

“Pretty spot and a fun ride and it's free!! Like actually free. The trails are all really twisty and it could use a few more straight downhills with a few jumps, but are semi technical, and good for an intermediate rider. I had a really hard time getting airborne at all on these trails, would've liked a few more opportunities to fly... All in all a great place to spend an hour and get in a little fun..”

“This is one of our favorite places to paddle. There is a small fee to launch, but well worth it to have facilities and safe place. Mostly small fishing boats, no jet skis and not much development. Very peaceful.”

“I was bike riding something I've been doing for many years, also that park central park wasn't there when I grow up in WS. Their was a vocational interracial school right at the bottom of old Salem that's what I also remember about that location. The school was for the disable, handicap, whether physical or mental and yes I did graduate from their and went from their to marines from 73 to 79. So this park has great remembrances for myself. From the 50s 60s 70s. Its a jewel in WSNC. Peace to you all and have a wonderful bless day.”

“Took my 2.5 year old here for the first time on a Saturday morning. There seemed to be plenty of parking despite there being activities happening on multiple fields. Equipment in the playground area was well maintained and there were a lot of interesting structures to explore for kids of a variety of ages. There was also a paved walking path that loops the park where we saw plenty of friendly dogs. Great experience, we will come back again.”

“Super fun, new, modern playground for children of all ages! THESE are the types of playgrounds I enjoy taking my son too! Large, room to run around, up above and down below. Slides everywhere, multiple things to climb on or with. Very creatively layed out playground! Has trees around it for some shade. A cute little brook runs through this park. There’s a secondary smaller playground as well of course, for the little ones to play on. This park is simply beautiful. Love the monument up front honoring all first responders!”

“I love the Umstead and I have hiked pretty much all of the trails. I love the Company Mills trail the most due to its proximity to my home and there is a stream where I can sit down for a while watching the water flow by. I could just take my lunch there and spend couple of hours in the woods. The second best is Sycamore trail as it varies in height and I use it when I am preparing for longer hikes, there is a secret off the road path to sit next to the dam where I can sit and each my snack or lunch. Also l the trail hugs the stream for good portion of the hike.”
