Overall, the place was beautiful, a great venue for reunions, Christmas parties, and/or wedding receptions.”

The scenery is colorful with lots of trees. In the winter there’s a nice hill for sleigh riding as well. They have a port a potty by the dog park and there’s a shelter house as well.”

Picnic tables nearby. There are porta-potties located at the start of the trail and half way point. There are a few ponds that are located near the paved trail.”

“A great place to go to relax. Most days I find it to not be as crowded as other parks. The trails are very small, so this is not the place for hard-core hikers. Nonetheless, it's a nice place to fish, and just enjoy nature. There is a ring of stones where people have been having fires, though I can find no official policy one way or another, so use at your own risk.”

You may notice a beautiful new dock available for use as well! Spring Lakes is a pay lake, stocked once a month. Currently we are stocking catfish. Get your permits (daily or yearly) below." This is a hidden gem of a park. The lakes are lovely. The fishing looked good, but it takes some sort of special permission to fish there. There is no play ground equipment but there are picnic tables. Be sure to avoid the cement trucks as you drive back to the park. July 2020 update...this is open and it is easy to maintain social distance. I always see people fishing. I like the ducks and geese.”

White Star Park Beach

Address: 925 S Main St, Gibsonburg, OH 43431, USA

“White Star Park Beach is one of the NICEST small park/beach in Ohio to check out! This is a Old Quarry that they filled with water to swim in. They turned it into a small beach. It's open to the public, they have picnic tables, pavilions, trails, lots of parking, grilles, and bathrooms there to use. The water is unbelievable clear and clean. You can see right thru it! We came with the dogs to walk around and enjoy the park. Park is dog friendly. They have a trail that circles the beach (about a little over mile long) they also do Scuba diving lessons and driving in general here too! We would definitely love to come back to try that part our overall!!! Recommend stopping here for a nice day at the park, and maybe a little swim overall!”

Cedar Ridge Backcountry Campsite

Address: 7511 Creek Rd, Germantown, OH 45327, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This is a primitive backpacking campsite, and can be used only with a permit from Five Rivers Metroparks (it was only $10, and is less on weekdays and in the off-season). There are 3 campsites with room for 1-2 small tents each, a common area for cooking/eating, and a latrine. Each campsite has a pole with hooks to hang your food bag/backpack/lantern. No fires allowed here, so bring a camp stove. There is no water, so you'll have to pack it in, or go get it from the river and purify it. I had to walk about half a mile to get close enough to the river to get cooking water without having to bushwhack or climb down an embankment. It was very clean and well maintained, and I had the place to myself. Plenty of room between campsites if you did have company. The bugs weren't bad at all, and if there were any racoons or other critters around, they left me alone. The only downside was the noise in the evening. SR 725 is about 0.4 mile away, and Creek Rd. is 0.1 miles away - apparently everyone in Ohio with a motorcycle decided to drive down them last night. I could also hear gunshots from across the river somewhere just before sunset.”

River's Edge Campground and Resort

Address: 12808 US-20, Pioneer, OH 43554, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This place is gorgeous 😍. The little lake at the beginning of the campground is lovely. There is a decent playground and a pool. The campsites are well maintained and well spaced. We stayed in one of their adorable cabins and don't regret it. Each campsite has its own picnic bench and a campfire ring. Our cabins bedroom window opened to the lake 😍 They are pet friendly but be sure to read the rules. The staff was very accommodating and nice. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and provided great directions. Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area.”
