“We rented bikes and toured around Jamestown and rode up the Virginia Capital Trail to Chickahominy State Park. The young man working at the marina Tuesday morning was so nice and helpful even though he was the only employee there that day and had a summer camp coming in to rent kayaks. Definitely recommend this place, very convenient and good service and good bikes in great working order.”

“What a tribute to the all American hero. Take a walk from Arlington National Cemetery and the grave markers set the tone for this amazing statue. The heroic touch by these young soldiers so many years ago is a lasting reminder of what the flag stands for. I also love that this memorial can be seen for miles around. It’s a little off the beaten path and after so many years of visiting DC this is my first time, and definitely a favorite.”

“A lovely city park with an outstanding topography excellent for walking and exploring. Although a little rough around the edges, Bryan Park still has a beautiful pastorial charm with touches of a past elegance not often seen in current projects dependent upon the public purse. The park is easily accessible by car, bike, or on foot, and although very close to busy interstate highways, the park provides the guest a remarkable quietness in the middle of a loud, modern city. Highly Recommended.”

“I really enjoyed this small little park. completely free and lots of trashcans, benches to picnic and a good REAL bathroom not a portapotty. plenty of places to play for children like the playgrounds. I liked looking at the garden portion the most but the animals and forest trail was nice too.”

“Saw what I believe was a tiny red bellied water snake near the swamp on the SW of the site. Very quiet evening, one doe deer, a flycatcher, eastern bluebird, common yellow throat and a few others. Did not see the white fringed orchid bloom was probably past. Beautiful wild place. On its way to greater richness and diversity thru time and growth.”

“Nice little park with great sports facilities (soccer, baseball, basketball). Public bathroom that is maintained pretty well. This park is near Compass classes so there are kids of all ages playing every day. Large area to run around. Decent parking. Rules posted and trash cans throughout the park. Clean and with lots of picnic tables for lunches. Lots of green grassy space to run around.”

“You have to get a vehicle inspection and pass through the nuclear facility so make sure you don't have any weapons in your vehicle. Hog island was great. They have designated fishing areas and such, but the bugs were really bad...I don't think it gets much visitors. Overall it's a nice stretch of wildlife.”

“Robious Landing Park is a hidden gym located along the James River. When you arrive you immediately see the river accompanied by picnic tables and outdoor grills. There’s boat landing for kayaks or a small John boat. The best part of the park is it’s trails through the woods along the James. These trails are shaded the whole way and have entry points spread throughout the paths. I challenge you to find the role swing! I recently took my family (all 6 of us) to this park just to get away for a bit and the kids loved it. This park is also pet friendly and welcomes all ages of life. Come and enjoy the peaceful river especially close to sunset.”

“We stayed this past weekend in our new travel trailer with our young grandson and absolutely loved it. We drove up the weekend before to familiarize ourselves with the place and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Every staff member we encountered during our stay was super friendly and inviting. The camp[ground and bath houses were clean and our grandson loved the playground. If you don't feel like cooking, the campground restaurant says, "permanently closed" but Lakeside restaurant is a block away. Overall great time, thanks!”

“Safe, animal friendly, trails and lots of families. Great jungle gym and basketball, softball, even soccer areas. Grab your picnic blanket, use beautiful gazebos for get together, heck, don't forget the dog who loves trail walks, the kids who need to expend their energy. (Instead of yours) bring a book or a date with a picnic basket for inexpensive and special features for your date, your dog, or those darn kids who want to DO SOMETHING!”

“A beautiful state park next to the ocean. It turned so romantic during sunset time. Of course during day time, it was a perfect place to take photos with the ocean as well. Another thing to mention is that it is a good place for fishing. We saw many fishers there from day to night. The park is free while you need to pay $7 of parking fee. Plus, there is a $18 of toll on both directions.”
