Riverview Farm Park Soccer Fields

Address: 125 City Farm Rd, Newport News, VA 23602, USA

Park

“My son plays soccer here. The playground and bathrooms are kept clean. It can be busy with kids and parents on their phones not watching them. We mostly have a good time. Even squeeze in just before the sun sets in the fall and winter in nice days. There is a ton that can be done here. Pinics and barbecue. Playground, fields, tracks and even roll down hills. We have brought kites and all kinds of fun outdoor toys to take advantage of the space.”

North Anna Battlefield Park

Address: 11576 Verdon Rd, Doswell, VA 23047, USA

Park

“Beautiful park with really nice trails. It's easy to miss so make sure you look out for the signage on the right of the road. It's a gravel road so there are holes, but it's not bad. The parking area is actually pretty spacious and there are picnic tables and a porta potty set up for your convenience. The are two trails, a gray and blue one, I think. To get down to the river you have to take the gray trail down. That trail can get very steep at times, so I don't recommend strollers. The trails can easily get you 5 miles if you take all of them. There are also several benches set up along the way, which is also nice. Overall, really nice place to get out and stretch your legs.”

Bull Run Festival of Lights

Address: 7700 Bull Run Dr, Centreville, VA 20121, USA

Park

“This Festival of Lights is amazing! $40 per car gets you in to a holiday light drive that seems to keep going and going, it’s such a fun family activity! ✨ What’s nice is that if you need a restroom, there are a few right along the drive. There are cabins that you can rent there as well, to get an extended holiday light experience. At the end of the drive there is plenty of parking for the Holiday Village. There you’ll find camel & carnival rides, even a Ferris Wheel! 🎡 The rides might be cold, so dress warmly or make a stop at the fire 🔥 pit for some hot coco & roasted marshmallows to warm up. There are lots of carnival games & food - Funnel Cakes Yum! Come prepared to buy carnival tickets 🎟 for most of the above mentioned village fun. Or just wonder through to soak up & spread the holiday cheer!”

Yorktown Beach Picnic Area

Address: Water St, Yorktown, VA 23690, USA

“Nice charming picnic area, plenty of parking spots, York River front water view, white sand beach and beautiful bridge across the River. Worth spending a day relaxing and enjoying fresh air.”

Tidewater park

Address: 457 St Pauls Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23510, USA

Park

“Gentrification in Process ‼️🥱 LongLiveTidewaterPark 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤”

Bluebell Trail

Address: Unnamed Road, Centreville, VA 20121, USA

Park

“A pretty trail and super muddy after an April rain. Sneakers and boots were coated in mud on their bottom 1/3 with pants ends also splattered. Many people joined the trail as noon approached and had to step aside multiple times to allow passage. More than 35 people seemed to be on the trail at the same time, nearly all unmasked. The trail has boarded paths just wide enough for two people that alternate with wider dirt pathways. There are a couple of areas where stepping over logs might be necessary and the trail is within earshot of the shooting range, so there were occasional bangs in the distance. Highly recommend for pictures of the bluebell flowers in the spring and creekside hiking.”

Autumn Ridge Park

Address: 900 Eustace Rd, Stafford, VA 22554, USA

Park

“Decent park. Playground is geared towards smaller kids. There aren't any swings. One smaller slide and one larger tube slide. There is a large field for soccer and a baseball field. The baseball field appears locked at times. There is also a tennis court down the street as well as a half court basketball setup about a quarter mile down the road from the play area. No restrooms other than a porta potty. Small pavilion area with a small grill.”

New Kent County Parks & Rec

Address: 11809 VA-249, New Kent, VA 23124, USA

Park

“We used the school gymnasium for a birthday party. Plenty of room for the kids to run, lots of games for them to play, and a clean environment.”

Ridgway Bark Park

Address: 85 E Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23669, USA

Park

“I love this park. Great place for parties with your fur family and friends. This park offers a good amount of seating and gazebos for shelter. A water hole with a hose, a plastic dog pool. I do wish they had a real dog pool though. Make sure to bring towels if your dog likes to get wet. We have even seen sightings of blad eagles above the park. A family of 5. It was amazing.”

Historic South Norfolk Community Garden

Address: 1014 Jefferson St, Chesapeake, VA 23324, USA

Park

“Great place with a great purpose! The SoNo Community Garden gives anyone living in South Norfolk an opportunity to grow food for their own table whether they have a yard or not. It was only $10 to rent a raised garden bed for a whole year! They even have seeds they can give you for free or you can buy your own seeds or plants. Best of all, they also have "community" beds that are planted and harvested for the soup kitchens of THREE local South Norfolk churches. Loving this place!”

Restrooms are at the visitor center. The same park hosts Go Ape Park with ziplines, historic spots and trails. Picnic tables and benches within and just outside of the garden.”

Monticello Park

Address: 320 Beverley Dr, Alexandria, VA 22305, USA

“Great place to let your dog run off leash! Streams, hills, trees and lots to explore. There are no fences so only dogs with good recall.”

Rivergate City Park

Address: 2 Montgomery St, Alexandria, VA 22314, USA

Park

“Beautiful park right on the Potomac River in North Old Town. Usually pretty quiet, this park has a great mix of walking paths, open grass, and shady spots to sit. Lined with multiple benches and some picnic tables, you can come for a whole day, or just walk through. Views on the water range from National Harbor all the way up to Navy Yard and the Capitol Building. As locals, we come here all the time and always find it enjoyable and relaxing. During heavy rainstorms, the park does get very wet. So just be aware after rain, it will be muddy or even full on flooded.”

Hendricks

Address: 65 Preston Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112, USA

Campground Lodging Park

Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area

Address: Morris Creek Landing Rd, Charles City, VA 23030, USA

Dutch Gap Conservation Area

Address: 341 Henricus Park Rd, Chester, VA 23836, USA

Park

“Wife and I decided to try the complete walk around the area. I walked and wife on her mobility scooter. Great time and a lot of birds to photograph. Until the last section the nice path ended and we were sent down a narrow path Housetail Loop Natural trail with steps it was terrible with trying to get her cart through this area. Just a warning for anyone with disabilities it is not a great trip. We made it through but very unsafe.”

Highlands Playground

Address: 8401 Eastfair Dr, Chesterfield, VA 23838, USA

Park

“we love our playground but they need to have restrooms. I think it's ridiculous tooth have a restroom ESPECIALLY when my kids have to go bc it's inconvenient and we end up having to leave 😒”

Fort Barnard Community Gardens

Address: 3912 19th St S, Arlington, VA 22204, USA

Park

“Nice”

Grist Mill Dog Park

Address: 4710 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309, USA

Park

“We have been visting the area and we feel lucky to have such a big dog park so closeby. It was a lot more packed on Fridays and the weekends if you're looking for doggie socialization. There is no separate small dog section like at some other dog parks, but it is big enough so there is a lot of space.”

Newport News Park Discovery Center

Address: 901 Clubhouse Way, Newport News, VA 23608, USA

Park

“Great place to experience a variety of family & indivual satisfactions. Personally I utilize the golf facilities the most. Otherwise it may be the most underrated/unknown city facility, especially to new inhabitants out there. From golf, 2 courses, to camping to nature walks to water options, canoeing/paddling boats to picnicking to jogging trails to Archery range. These and other options that I'm not familiar with all monitored by a fine staff of park rangers & staff. Know this becuse I liv. e near a much smaller city park which is well maintained most of the time.Bottom line, well worth the time to explore & enjoy.. A welcome release of every day stress for a while. Don't usually respond to these requests but so glad you asked.. HATS OFF TO THE CITY ON THIS ONE!!”
