Boulder Group Campground

Address: Mill Creek Rd, Angelus Oaks, CA 92305, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Had a lot of fun with my group of friends here. The road to get here is a bit rough though. About a mile or two of dirt road to get to the campsite with lots of rocks. A FWD can make it up, just have to drive really carefully! Definitely would bring an SUV or Truck if you can though. Once you get to the campground though, you and your group will be far enough from other campers not to really be bothered by anyone. There are lots of trails you can explore yourself just by walking around the campsite with lots of shade. *Be warned though, we did see a bear both mornings we were here. Make sure to take advantage of the bear boxes provided.*”

Osborn Park

A nice playground for kids to have fun and a lot of benches for parents to sit and watch. The baseball is so good. I love watching and snack shack to eat during games, GO ATWATER LITTLE LEAGE! They have a BBQ pit. They have a huge area of seating to eat and fave a party.”

It’s possible to extend the hike either via Frascati, Lorraine and Canada or even Cotilinita trails. The Siena loop takes about 10 minutes. Nice ocean views included. Update in february 2019 Lush vegetation composed of plants that are NATIVE to southern CA. Big thank you to the conservatory employees and volunteers! Ping me for any questions. Feel free to hit the Like button if my review has been useful for you. Thank you!”

“My 😎 favorite local getaway is finally open!! It just didn't seem like summer 🏖️without being able to put my feet 👣 in the cool, cool river🏞️!! I LOVE💕 it here!!....free entrance/parking, pets🐕 allowed, bathrooms and life jackets🛟 available and lots of private areas to chill out. With the water🌊 having been so high there is a fresh selection of all kinds of rocks⛰️.It seems like the colors are more intense and more polished rocks around shore. I can't help but check them all out and add the coolest to my collection! Update: I thought this was already posted. It was from a month or so ago. Since then the river is running very high and swift. Went there Sept 4th. Still awesome but be careful!😊”

Greenhorn Mountain Park

Address: 9665 Old State Rd, Alta Sierra, CA 93285, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“A beautiful campground in the hills near the Kern River. Our group camp up for 3 nights to escape the heat down in the valley. The campground sits around 6000 feet so it's easily 20 degrees cooler than down below. The campground has flush toilets and hot showers. The campground doesn't see too many visitors and is a little gem in the hills. I'll definitely come back!”

Waterman Gap Trail Camp

Address: Skyline to the Sea Trail, Boulder Creek, CA 95006, USA

“Nice overall forested hike if that’s what you’re looking for. There weren’t many overlooks with views of the landscape (at least on my trail route) also this trail camp is right by a road so diminishes a bit of that secluded feeling if that’s what you seek.”

Alexander Park

Address: 409 Yorkshire Way, Belmont, CA 94002, USA

Park

“Small quaint park in Belmont. One can easily miss the entrance to this park which resembles a residential driveway. There is no parking inside the park; must park on the neighborhood streets and walk into it. But, once in, there is a children's playground followed by 2 Tennis courts with a hitting wall, a half court basketball area, 🚻 a bathroom, water fountain, horseshoe pits, and a moderate sized grassy area for a picnic or party. On the weekend we went, the tennis and basketball courts were being resurfaced. While an inconvenience, we made due with what was there and had a good time with family.”

Westhaven Park

Address: 12252 West St, Garden Grove, CA 92840, USA

Park

“Nice little fire department themed playground at this park. There is a lot of open space to play soccer or any other field sport. There's a small hall that I'm guessing you can tent for any special occasion. Restrooms were closed on a Friday so that was a bummer, thus the 4 starts. Fire department is right next to this park so it's great to have that safety aspect close by in case of emergencies.”

Lone Pine

Address: 15027 CA-79, Julian, CA 92036, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We had a great time and will definitely revisit for a longer stay. RELEARNING to camp was exciting and fun, even with the hiccups we faced. Make sure you bring enough blankets, it gets cold at night... sleeping bag rated for 30 degrees was not enough for me... smiley face. Night skys were beautiful.”

Nira Campground

Address: Sunset Valley Rd, Los Olivos, CA 93441, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“A nice REMOTE campground. Be warned if you are expecting all the amenities in normal campgrounds, there is no running water or ranger station near by with firewood. The road on the way up is one lane, narrow, and part of it is unpaved getting there is not meant for all vehicles. Other then that it is a nice campground with great hiking trails, really takes you out of the city. I recommend this campground, but do come prepared if not a seasoned camper.”

Lopez-Penasquitos canyon confluence

Address: San Diego, CA 92121, USA

Park

“This is a nice trail. The scenery was breathtaking and the atmosphere was peaceful. The trail was perfect for hikers of all levels, with a short and mild slope that made it easy to navigate. It is early March, we just got lots of rains last few weeks that makes the mountains covered in green grass. The view was absolutely stunning and made the hike even more enjoyable. Additionally, there was a small stream that added to the tranquility of the surroundings. There are also friendly mountain bikers who were always courteous enough to announce the number of riders when passing by. It was great to see everyone enjoying the outdoors and being respectful of one another. The hike itself was about 2.7 miles long and ended at a beautiful waterfall. If you are looking for a peaceful and scenic hiking experience, this trail may be the one.”
